Oriza L. Legrand

Violettes du Czar

Historic | Grandiose | Violet

Oriza is the only European perfume house to have been chosen as the Purveyor to the Russian Court. Violettes du Czar is a richly historic perfume, and was the signature scent of Alexander II (1818 – 1881), and his grandson Nicholas II (1868 - 1918).

The fine and distinguished aroma of violet flower (powdery, tender, romantic, woody-floral) meets with the virile, lithe, and fortifying accents of Russian leather, balsams, and amber. Sharp natural green turns into powdery peppery softness furthered by cooling iris and heliotrope, against a background of woods, leather, and whisps of smoke. Like wild violets in and amongst trees deep in the woods, there is a prominent dark streak in this fragrance.

Today, violet is a refined and charming scent for dandies and classicists alike.
