THE AFTERNOON OF A FAUN
A poem by Stéphane Mallarmé, a ballet set to music by Claude Debussy, and the great dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky, who scandalised Parisian audiences when he first performed in the Théâtre du Châtelet on 29 May 1912, with his carnal expressionism which defied classic formalism.
All of the above serve as the inspiration behind this unusual, iconoclastic, aromatic spicy creation. Mx Justin Vivian Bond, who identifies as non binary, also collaborated on the project, therefore reflecting some of the novelty factor of the seminal performance.
Not a crowd pleaser, this scandalous scent creation invites you to a shameless expression of sexual appetite amidst erotic fantasy and sensuous reality. The perfumer took a classic rose chypre, and smothered it from all sides with the intense, candied maple of immortelle; a Mediterranean herb which never wilts, hence its moniker sempre viva. If you’re left unshaken for the remainder of the plot, a huge coumarin hug embraces you with its lasting projection, married to the inky stain of oakmoss. It’s not what you’d wear to church, but it wears its fame on its sleeve with pride.
