Etat Libre D'Orange

MALAISE OF THE 1970S

OUR VERDICT

Peppery, citrusy, bloody…

Back in the 1970s, when punk erupted on the UK scene with a big bang, guitar strings were routinely being tortured in London squats, safety pins hung from youthful ears, and razor blades licked the pale skin of bony chests under black leather jackets. It was then when the Stranglers proclaimed “No More Heroes”…

This fascinating cultural snapshot was first captured in the Etat Libre d’Orange fragrance Sex Pistols and then re-issued under its current name. Heavily peppery and fresh with the characteristic tang of citron, an elegant and ancient variation of citrus brought to Europe by Alexander the Great. Quite wearable and long lasting, this metallic-smelling leather fragrance with a plummy, ambery nuance underneath the coolness, suggests a hint of blood on that razor or those guitar strings, and could be worn by anyone fantasizing about those tumultuous times, or anyone who wants something more daring and unusual for daytime.

Notes:  Citrus, Black Pepper, Amber, Prune, Electric Aldehydes, Heliotrope, Patchouli, Orcanox, Leather…
