Bewitching. Erotic. Unconventional. The scent of witchcraft.
Few fragrances dare invoke a sense of actual sorcery. Prin Lomros dared to go where few went before, for Parfums Prissana and Rajesh Balkrishnan, who originally commissioned the scent.
Inspired by the 1922 Swedish-Danish film Häxan (Witchcraft), part documentary and part re-enacted by actors, Lomros slashed our senses with the sharp, green ambience he created for Häxan the fragrance; a deep yet wearable concoction of more than 100 different ingredients, ebbing and flowing in the concave space between darkness and light…
A cluster of pungent, bitter herbs and resins, such as wormwood, galbanum, peppery elemi used for mummification in antiquity, bring on their own heritage of dark rites and embrace a clear lavender that belies the darkness of the blend.
Incense, labdanum and styrax then evoke the mysticism of ancient ceremonies which bring us back to the origins of perfumery: per fumum, through smoke… as aromatics rise to the skies to please the gods.
The unique tincture from goat hair as well as costus root, beeswax absolute and hyrax add that animalistic touch which is part and parcel of our imaginings of ancient sacrifices. Dare you go there?
