Sublimely constructed, tartly fruity, incandescent, Hacivat is that odd, yet beguiling combination of contrasting elements.

On the one hand, the cultural heritage of its Turkish roots in the Shadow Play figure, the suave and elegant Hacivat hero, the pilgrim. On the other, the contemporary treatment of a dominant pineapple note distances it from functional perfumery (i.e. fragrances for functional products such as shower gels, deodorants and shampoos) and exalts it into glorious freshness, which makes the Hacivat Extrait de Parfum so perfect for hot weather. That’s far from the whole story, though.

Coupled with the tartness of grapefruit, another popular scent from body products, the pineapple (“note du jour” thanks to the tremendous popularity of Creed Aventus) is interwoven into a rich and nuanced chypre structure. Chypres fragrances thrive on the tension of bergamot, an aromatic citrus note, with oakmoss, an inky smelling lichen extracted from oak trees. The formula thus incorporates popular referents, which we recognize from best-selling products, into an Old World sophistication, creating that tension characteristic of great works of art.

Virgia Woolf would have been proud; never has a more high-brow concept (the oakmoss-rich chypre) been given a more approachable, effortless veneer. Hacivat mysteriously beckons you in without betraying its aloofness.
