Classical wood note from the eponymous tree, its scent recalls cedar chests and sophisticated moth repellent products in wood form. It’s also evocative of pencil shavings because pencils are made from Virginian cedarwood. The Atlas cedar is deeper and somewhat less austere. Invaluable in woody blends, chypres, fougeres and florals. Cedar is a fairly sustainable product in perfumery, being extracted from sawdust and woodchips as a by-product of the timber industry.
Fragrances containing cedar-like synthetic molecules such as Iso E Super and cedramber may also be found here.
